Drum Dumpers, Tilters and Tippers

Drum dumpers, tilters and tippers are used for a wide range of functions. Individual units are limited in their application but are more economical than the more advanced drum inverters and manipulators. METO offers a full variety of configurations to best fit the specific needs of our customers. Generally –

Tippers – are used to position the drum with the head down for purpose of discharge. Tipping is typically associated with drums containing liquids. The drum is tilted downward to facilitate discharge through a bung in the head of the drum.
Tilters – are used to put the container at an angle that will facilitate removal of material from the drum. Typically applied to drums containing powders, tilters may angle slightly to allow ease of personnel scooping from the drum or angled more steeply for material to be “raked” out.
Dumpers – are typically used to discharge the full contents of a drum containing powders or pellets. This is achieved by lifting the drum to an angled position above a specific receiving container or piece of processing equipment. They are configured with and without chutes or cones. Chutes direct an open discharge out and over the receiving port while cones, when combined with discharge valves, provide for a closed transfer that provides enhanced dust control.
